An artist and craftsman, Shane Lewis transforms wood into functional art for homes and landscapes. From cedar railings to rustic gazebos, he approaches projects with a chain saw, an open mind and a realization that his art will be around longer than he is. His background as a carpenter ensures that his designs are both practical and functional. His sense of space and balance comes from his experience as a painter, printmaker and glassblower. Shane studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University and worked as an apprentice at both a fine art silkscreen shop in Virginia and a glassblowing studio in Vermont. He lives in Jamaica, Vermont and travels to wherever his work leads him. When he's not working, you can find him kayaking, riding on his dirt bike or looking for the perfect piece of wood for the next project.
